I am thinking of buying a pair of earrings in a rather popular button style, a turquoise in the middle and seed pearls around it. The earrings are stamped 925 but have a golden colour. They are supposedly from around 1910. I have been trying to find out when the use of the stamp '925' instead of 'sterling' started, and in general a time line, which marks for Sterling were used when. (I would also like to know about the European marks of 800, 835 etc. Is there a general time line when those were used?)
