DIAMOND 'DOT', V & WAVY LINE ON CUFFLINKS - HELP PLEASE

I have searched everywhere I can think of and cannot identify this mark. They are a pair of cufflinks, which I bought as 'foreign silver cufflinks'. The markings are a diamond shaped dot, a letter 'V' and a wavy line underneath. Any help as to their origin/maker/date would be greatly appreciated. Also, does this mark definitely mean they are silver?

Hi,
It is Egypt or the UAR, the mark is properly oriented below, the wavy line at the top indicates the city of assay, the invert V and dot say "80" which indicates .800 silver purity. Probably date to the mid 20th century and likely made for the tourist trade.
