Makers mark question, Who does ELD stand for?

Post by radders »

Hello everyone.

I have been given a brooch that belonged to my Nan and I have been trying to find out more about it.

The makers stamp is ELD with the D tucked into the L.

It is a .925 Brooch with Marcasite stones.

The location stamp appears to be a Sun Cross and the date mark appears to be a 5.

The hallmark is a London import mark. I can't make out the date letter with certainty but I suspect it may be the lower case g for 1962/63:

I have seen this sponsor's mark before, so far with dates from 1962 to 1973, and always on imported silver. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to identify it.
