unknown mark on sterling watch

need help in identifying maker and silversmith for this watch.. thank you.. the band is marked .925 along with the watch. that is a U inside the little figure that i can't find the maker

Hello. The marks you describe sound like British (London) import marks used since 1906.

Will need better pictures of any other marks to help you more.

hi.i think that is a London mark..early 20th C. that looks like it exactly.. i would guess this is before 1930 ..the letter after the .925 is just a plain capital B..i do not find that date mark..the maker is LS. i will try to post a better photograph..and i guess i should move it to english sterling. thank you so much for the help. i'd love to find the maker..jen

hi again.i think i understand this london mark to be an import mark only. is that correct? where would i learn the origin? i can't find a B like that on the watch to learn the date..and i can't find initials LS in a sort of shield under english silversmiths. i would guess this is American and was imported to England for sale. is that correct? thank you..jen

Hi Jen.
Yes, these are just London import marks, not maker's marks.
LS is likely the importer.
Could have been made anywhere, not just the USA.
I think the date letter B stands for 1937-38.



I moved your post here so members more familiar with British silver marks might help identify the LS mark.
