silver chatelaine

Postby silvernoob » Wed Jul 04, 2007 1:25 pm

Im new to this site and to collecting and identifying silver , but I have looked at every picture on here, and only came up with a wild guess. I think it might be Glasgow, Scotland because of the 2 lions on the front, the back has two stamps a "H" or "X" stamp but Im not sure. There is another stamp on the top right corner of one of the keys. 2 of the coins are dated 1788 and 1778.

Hi,

I'm not an expert on heraldry, but this seems to be from a prince (5 leafs above the 6 spoked wheel) The wheel is common for some cities as Wageningen in the Netherlands (very rare), Russia an Germany.

I don't think this is Dutch.
