Georg jensen bracelet

Post by 925nat »

Seller says it’s marked George’s Jensen
But didn’t indicate the reference number
Looks like it ends in “40”
Looks too big to be a bracelet and too small for a choker
Any ideas about this and the reference style?

Hello
Here are some comments about your item.
-The marks are unreadable on my screen, so can’t say if they’re Jensen.
-Dipping into Georg Jensen: a Tradition of Splendid Silver, 2nd edition by Janet Drucker, the author gives a list of design numbers for jewellery. There is a #40 bracelet that matches necklace #29B with coral beads by Henry Pilstrup. The bracelet isn’t illustrated. However, there are no bracelets with #x40.
-Looking at the finish of your item, it doesn’t appear to be Jensen quality.
-Also the hook-and-eye closure is not something you’d find in a Jensen piece.
-Drucker states that choker necklaces are 16.5 inches long.
-There is something called an arm ring, #235, designed by Astrid Fog in 1971, but no dimensions are given.

Regards.

Hi there

Ok, i have some more photos.
I still can't find any reference on it.
It's a clear "240"
the length is 13 inches.
def too small for a choker.
i think the arm band would be the best idea?
It doesn't look like it's been adjusted or links removed.

Hi,
Dotted oval GJ mark, design number 240 by Astrid Fog, 1972.
She was a fashion designer who started designing jewellery to complement her clothes. She created her first jewellery collection for Georg Jensen in 1969 and in the seventies she designed silver spiral pieces for Georg Jensen that were not big sellers but a simple, large heart pendant on a chain was successful and remained in production. Her approach was respectful of the way that individual materials relate to the design.
She was also associated with the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Company.

(Thage, Jacob, ‘Danske Smykker. Danish Jewelry’, Bøger 1990).
Regards

wow, thank you so much!

what do you make of the odd length?
It looks too short to be for a neck and too long for bracelet.
i could see it for a arm, maybe but that would be risky, since it's not adjustable.

An armlet or an armband is worn as jewelry or an ornament around the biceps of the upper arm.
