Hello, I'm looking at an antique cross pendant online and I'm wondering if it's authentic or not. I can see the silver standard mark clearly, but everything else is hard to make out. Perhaps someone here can make the determination based on what's visible in these pictures?
Russian silver cross pendant - real or fake?
Re: Russian silver cross pendant - real or fake?
Hi,
Looks OK to me, although maker`s mark should be somewhere.
Relief is sharp enough (reproductions cast in sand have poor relief).
It is St Barbara, the Martyr.

AG2012 - if this is a real Russian cross, wouldn't you expect it to be a 3 bar cross? Also, typical to have "protect and save" (спаси и сохранить) on the back of the cross and nothing on the front? I suppose, unless it was made for decorations and not a religious object. What do you think?

Hi,
This is perfectly genuine form; many Russian crosses made of gold and silver look like this one; almost typical.
