Could somebody help us identify if this Silver Godola is from Malta, or Naples?
We cannot fathom if the first symbol is the Maltese Cross, or something else ?
Also, if the Brooch is from Malta, we believe the Hallmark indicates that it dates to 1810-1826. Is this correct ?

Hi,
Whenever you see millesimal fineness (800, 830,917,925 etc) that always means newer production, i.e. very late 19th century, or more likely 20th century.

I feel AG is correct about his comments, if I may add my opinion ,this to me does not look like proper filigree work (fine silver wire work)
this piece to me looks to be a cast piece ,made probably from an original Filigree item used as a pattern.

An example of Italian Filigree work,as like all things the quality of the work always varies.

makers mark Giuseppe Battista Rota Genova 39GE 1935 -ceased between 1955-1971.

Regarding filigree; depends how you do it.Twisted wire,small spheres and other silver particles are arranged on asbestos plate, flux and powdered solder added,then everything heated with jeweler`s torch to the point silver gets red and solder melts. Skill is needed to create perfect silver lace, if more solder is applied you get what we see here; not perfect filigree,unlike Guido`s box, which is well made.
