HI. I do not see this silversmith in PL. Do you know who it is? Did this photo locket pendant have a special purpose for those engraved cross and the letters IC XC (Jesus Christ)? Regards
Hi. Thanks, that is, I understand that the silversmith is not recognizable. Do you think that it is not a pendant for a photo, but for a relic? Regards
Depends what the owner wanted to cherish; image of a saint, a lock of hair, a nail, piece of wood, something brought back from Holy Land or a monastery......... Based on the cross engraving, but if she kept a photo o her fiancée, she cannot be blamed for that, right ?
I have a 3-Chambered silver enameled "OI XC" sterling silver object, the "Unction Sacrament Set" which contained holy oil. ::: I'm not sure if this would be an object for storing the holy oil for last rites or not? ::: I guess a small icon or a picture of a loved one makes more sense. ::: But I just thought that I would talk about another sterling silver object that has "OI XC" engraving. :::
Hi AG2012 Hi Aguest Of course, I understand that the pendant could have been used as a reliquary, but it suits me most that it contained a picture of a loved one or a saint. Regards
Hi, look in the book of P.-L. number 828. Vaganov Vasily Fedorovich. In the book of P.-L. the stamp "В.В" (Vaganov Vasily Fedorovich) is indicated. But silversmiths often used punch of 3 letters of the name (+ patronymic). Then there will be "ВФВ".
