Large soviet (USSR) ring, possibly agate

Post by peggyaus »

I am trying to find out more about the age and origin of this Soviet Union 916 silver ring. When and where it was made if possible and what the stone might be - it looks like agate. Any help would be appreciated.

Your ring is made in Sverdlovskij juvelirnuj zavod i.e Sverdlovsk's jewelry factory in 1977. Its silver fineness is 916/1000. About the stone, let's wait for somebody else to pop in and tell us. Gemstones are not my area, sorry.

Thank you! Is Sverdlovskij juvelirnuj in Russia or Ukraine?

The stone could be Seraphinite, rather rare mineral from Eastern Siberia (across the Ural mountain close to Sverdlovsk region).
