Silver & Marcasite Brooch - Maker, Origin Help Please?

Post by juniorj2012 »

I have acquired this stunning brooch today

White metal - I have tested it and believe it to be silver, it is not marked as such

1 7/8" in length / width 1" - boat shaped

Lovely Victorian / Deco ( ?) style

Adorned with cut marcasite stones - unfortunately there are at least 8 or 9 missing, though you cant tell from a distance

The setting is so pretty - a flower, leaves & fans

Does up with a secure roll-over clasp. The pin is undamaged

Weight: 10.3g

It is signed, more etched or scratched - I J I W I o (this o could possibly b a 6)/e something has been scratched out underneath that and then at the bottom J I Y or perhaps 4 but a simplified 4 I
I have used capital I's here to replicate vertical lines

This is so beautiful, but I'd like to find out more if at all possible

thank you in advance

No, they are not showing for me either :)

I am unsure exactly of how to get them on here - I had the same problem last time I posted

Could you explain to me how I do it?

I would be forever grateful.

Many thanks, Lorna

Hopefully I have uploaded these pictures correctly now

To correspond with my request for assistance to identify the origins or maker of this silver and marcasite brooch
