Hi all, my first post and I could be in trouble already. I am not sure which forum to use, German, French or other for the marks on the necklace. I searched as much as I could but got different answers and no real knowledge. Any help is appreciated. Image

I am still struggling to find this mark. Searches have mentioned the mark AMLd and say it is a London Hallmark with the leopards head ?? Uk Marks dont do 800 and the scales are not UK either. The Clasp is Marked 925 so this just gets more confusing.

Good morning Pete,

Believe the marks your looking at deal with the Convention on the Control and Marking of Articles of Precious Metals (HMC). There is also a link above under World Silver Standards.

Hi Warren, I took a look but did not really get any help with dating this piece or country of manufacture. It was confusing to say the least. Good old English hallmarks are easy to work out thankfully. All I could say is that this piece has the Leopards head which is English but no real help otherwise. It may well be me not seeing the obvious... it happens a lot ! Any pointers as to where to look ? I appreciate your help and knowledge Warren. Thanks.

Pete,

It appears that the Convention did not come into force for it's members until after 1975. Even though this choker appears to be in the Art Deco style, most likely created after the above date. Great Britian is a member but the mark does not appear to me to be the leopard's head, more bear like. Was thinking Berlin but Germany is not a member according to their site.

Have been looking for the makers mark, have been reading it as AM Ltd. So far no results.
