my research shows that 830 was not used in Germany
am I wrong?

It is a bit unusual, but I've got several German pieces from 830S.

Hi,
Since 1884 the minimum standard in Germany is 800/1000. The most common standards used there are 800 and 835, but 830, 900, 925, and 935 are also used. Technically any figure above 800 is possible.

The maker's mark FS of the bracelet means Fritz Scheurle. I've also got some purity marks with "833" from Germany. But now to something completely different. *g*
