early buttons MS S and ?

Postby Francais » Tue Oct 08, 2013 11:59 am

I bought these buttons in different places over a period of years. The first is the most identifiable, but they all have some similarities. I would like the first one to be American, but I thought they are probably more likely to be German but I am open to suggestions.

I think that your buttons is norwegian made for the folk costumes. Probable made 1880-1900.

I think the first button is much older, and the second older than 19th c. but the marks would tell. If the MS mark is 19th c. someone should have it on some list. Personally I don't know much about Norwegian marks, or buttons, but would like to see examples of marked ones.

I hope you see my point.

Opps, I didn't see the edit. In my opinion the oldest is the MS then the one marked S then the one with an unclear mark.
