Scandinavian ? brooch

Postby joho » Sun Sep 09, 2012 11:51 am

Hi - can anyone help identify the marks on this silver and enamel brooch. They look Scandinavian so I will start in this section - but of course I could be completly wrong. It measures 60mm across. Thanks for your help. John

lools like Norway to me. Emal and pattern (skønvirke)
The tower looks like the old Bergen city mark - the tower at 7 dots.
dont know maker but you can look in norwegian makers and see if you can find.

I think that your brooch is made by Johan Koren Dahl d.y. in Bergen (1891-1927) b. 1867, d. 1927

Dear Hose and Tosten. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge. I suspected Bergen because of the 7 dots, but have never seen that particular Bergen mark. Thanks again John
