Birmingham watch that does not match encyclopeadia's symbol

Postby Watchme » Mon Mar 06, 2006 6:18 am

Hi there,

I appear to have a watch identical to a lady who asked earlier, but I am of the opinion it is an earlier model.

even the same maker however the matching cartouches for Birmingham and the date are unlike anything on the encyclopedia.

Can somebody help with:

1) the date and
2) the maker of the watch.

A clue (but not necessarily a reliable one) is somebody's scratchings:

" A.E. Mills
Lake Charm
V.I. 1816 "

Notice the "d" has a different cartouche.

But I don't mind if you tell me its 1801 :D

Here is the lady's thread

Birmingham 1903/4 but no idea who the maker is. Best wishes, Mike.
PS the scratched marks/numbers are made by a repairer.
