Gday all this is my first post on this forum, I live in Whyalla South Australia and do a lot of Metal detecting around old house ruins and early town surface dumps, mostly this is done in pre 1920s dumps, while detecting I have accumulated quite a few sterling silver items including rings, pendants name tags ect.

Yesterday I scored what I think to be a ripper item it is a Sterling Silver and Gold Locket, the hallmarks are hard to read but from what I can make out it goes as follows.

T. K. & E (or F)

Under this is

a Anchor, a Lion and a lower case h

Using the 925-1000.com website I make this to be Birmingham 1907 but can not work out the maker mark.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I would like to know if Gold on silver like this is a common or rare thing??

Welcome to the Forum.

Tozer, Kernsley & Fisher are the likely makers of your locket. The use of gold applied to silver items was not uncommon at this time, it was especially popular in the manufacture of watch fobs.

Trev thanks for your prompt reply, I was just thinking if it is gold should it have a gold mark stamped somewhere?

No, the quantity of gold used is quite small, too small to require hallmarking.
