800 E Pluribus Unum Pin marked CW

Postby AimeeJ » Sun Dec 12, 2010 9:45 pm

I have this pin that I am trying to identify. The back is marked CW, 800, and a word/number combo that I can't decipher. Can anyone help?

CW = Carl Wild, Jewellery Factory, Hamburg, Germany.

Hello »AimeeJ«

The stacked octagonal maker’s mark is that of Carl Wild, Jewellery Factory, Hamburg, Germany.

The signification of the German word GESCHÜTZT is that the item is copyrighted.

The minimum fineness of marked German silverware is 800-1,000 — there fore stand the 800 punch.

The pin seems to be a memory item — but maybe made long time after the end of the Second World War.

Kind regards silverport
