Birmingham datemark

Can anyone help with the maker's name and the hallmark date on this child's bracelet? It seems to be 1969 but this does not tally with the known history of the piece.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

The date mark indicates 1969. If you thought the date was later, bear in mind that the piece could have been in a jewellers stock for a long period of time.

The HG & S marks attributed to Henry Griffith & Son Ltd on the Forum's Birmingham list are within a rectangle but the one on the bracelet has no outline. Normally there must be a full match between a mark and one attributed to a maker by a reliable source in order that responsibility for an item can be confirmed with certainty. Unfortunately until such evidence comes to hand Henry Griffith & Son Ltd can only be a possibility.
