Help needed with Polish Hallmark

Postby ellesbells » Fri Feb 19, 2010 1:01 pm

Hello,
I have a bangle with 2 hallmarks. After searching through this site and forums I have found that one of the hallmarks is a Polish after 1963 - 1986 but the other mark I cannot seem to find it anywhere. Can anybody please tell me what the other mark means please.
Many Thanks for taking the time.

Polish silver bracelett

Hello

Sorry, I’m not specialised in jewellery. I guess the second mark is maker’s mark? Because almost every producer is interested to sign his products. That this one, agricultural crop as his mark has chosen — maize —, seem to me not so curious. If somewhere already exists, outside of Poland, a source register for modern Polish jewellery marks?

Let’s wait until other members who have more Knowledge in jewellery would give you some sounded answer.

Kind regards silverport

The second mark is definitely a maker's mark though I can't tell you whose exactly.

But the first mark with woman's head and number three, has got a letter W on its left side. It indicates that the mark was struck in Warsaw the capital of Poland. So the silversmith was probably active in Warsaw.

Hello,
The maker's mark is for Warmet, a Warsaw firm that produced jewelry in the 60's and 70's. I've heard that the design staff was drawn from art academy graduates and the few pieces I've seen with the mark are far more modernist than your bangle.
Regards, Tom
