French Cigarette Lighter

Postby stephen40 » Mon May 03, 2021 11:48 am

Can anyone recognise the silversmith makers mark (Poincoin) for this early 20th Century French lighter:

The makers mark is:

Any help or information gratefully appreciated.

Kind regards,

Stephen.

Are you absolutely sure this is sterling (or French 950 standard) silver? :: I've had French lighters with a maker's mark in a diamond-shaped cartouche similar to this example and they were silver-plated or gold-plated. ::::

Hi there,

Pretty sure. There is a separate wolfs head stamp next to the makers mark. So I believe this is the Paris mark.

Still searching for the maker. Of course the mark as shown could be upside down.

I’m looking at a possible Isaac Tlllesi (JT/IT makers mark) who operated a jewellery shop in Paris up to the 1930’s. It seems he died in 1925 or 1927.

Pictogram for Isaac’s mark was a harp.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

It's important that you provide images of all of the marks.

Apologies, here is the silver mark:

I meant, of course, to say boars head in the previous post.
