Need help identifying what this is and maker

We think it is a Scarf Slide but have no idea of the maker. The mark appears to be a trumpet symbol with a capital E at the bell end.
We think it is sterling silver. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

It's a shoe buckle, though I can't see anything that would indicate that it is made of silver, most likely plated.

I'm wondering if the company may be an early subsidiary of Trifari, Krussman & Fishel?

I did not think about that, but I'll bet you're correct Tom.
However, I have not been able to find information confirming this.
