I am new to the site and have been trying to research the Hughes and Woods company to get a correct timeline of when this was produced. The mark is very small and doesn't show in the pics but is written like this:
W&HCO. The marks I have seen listed don't match this logo but the buckle is Seversky Aircraft Corporation based out of Farmingdale NY and Hughes and Woods is out of New York as well so it seems to make sense. Just trying to verify that I am right and to date this buckle. Seversky aircraft corporation changed their name after 1942 so I would think this is before that. Any input would be much appreciated.Image

I believe Wood & Hughes was out of business before the Seversky Aircraft Corporation was founded.
Also, I don't think they produced these types of items.

A possibility is the Wightman & Hough Company, Providence, Rhode Island.
They were a jewelry manufacturer who may have produced such items.
