Sterling French Paste Earrings Capital R Mark - ID Needed

I have a lovely pair of chandelier style earrings that I believe are French paste. They are screw back, and are marked STERLING on the sides of the screw backs. The backs of the drops have no other marks other than a capital R in a box or square. They are approximately 3" long, and stunning. I haven't been able to find the makers mark on these earrings - does anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much.

Does not seem to be any information on your mark around. However, I did find a clue. Checked around and found a piece with your mark that also had a patent number on it, 1994826. This patent was issued on March 19, 1935. Could not get any further on the data base, but I don't know what I'm doing. Maybe someone else could help us find more information on this site:

Thanks for the info. I did a little digging and George K. Lowe worked for the D.M. Hawkins Company in Rhode Island. That company specialized in jewelry fittings and findings. The patent # in question was for a bracelet George Lowe designed. So, while the patent number on the back of the piece of jewelry you saw probably related to Mr. Lowe's design, it doesn't refer back to these earrings (as the design is totally different from the bracelet patent. Oh well, it was fun to track down, and I appreciate the info - it's always nice to learn new things.
