Any input on ring, or hallmark on ring, found in lake?

I spotted this silver band in the shallows of our northern Minnesota lake. It must have been in the lake for quite awhile. We have had the property for years, and noone we know of has lost a ring. It had been very windy the day before. Anyway, I would appreciate any information or ideas I could get regarding this ring and it's hallmark. It is stamped," ..925". The 8 next to the hallmark is cosistant with its size. Thank you.
