Signature CC brooch

Postby PatD » Thu Sep 03, 2015 6:14 am

First time poster here. I'm trying to identify the signature on my brooch. There are two interlinked Cs and I think I see a faint outline of the eagle mark which is why I've put it up here. I've tried the net and this site but no joy so wondered if someone here knew. Many thanks.

That second mark blows up to look like multiple images..shield with partial Sterling mark, shield with upside down P, etc. Have you tried a light pencil rubbing on tissue paper to recover the image? The first mark was double struck and that is problematic as we don't know if it is one C struck twice or two struck once. Assuming you searched Mexican and Native American possibilities already.

Hi.

The interlocking C's is the mark of Carence Crafters of Chicago.
According to the site, ............... Carence Crafters was established in 1908 and was only in business for "a couple of years."
RCJ mentions names of principles and shows photos of the mark contributed by http://www.chicagosilver.com.

Both sites may be useful to further research you may care to undertake.
