Ring ID

Postby deansdame » Mon Jan 14, 2013 12:18 pm

So I think this piece is SW Native American, but I've been unable to locate this particular mark in any of my texts or anywhere online, any input would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. I believe your ring may be Campfire Girls award given for wood gathering, and the trademark is for the Campfire Outfitting Company that the organization setup in the 1920's to give them complete control over what was available for official awards. The Campfire Girls did pattern these types of things after Native American "motifs," so your idea for the origination of the ring is completely understandable. Good luck with your research.

From an earlier post by Tom (admin):

I was once told by an ex-CFG that the W stands for Wohelo

"The Camp Fire Girls' watchword is "WoHeLo," a word created from the first two letters of the words "work, health, love.""

The membership information about the ring is good to see. I'll stick with the information about the trademark. I found it sometime ago in an original publication.
