Prayer Locket?

Hi Everyone, Thank you in advance for your time and help. I found this item recently, and it called out to me. Now that I have it, I would love to know what it actually is. After some internet surfing, I am wondering if it could be a prayer locket? Also, I am curious about the mark. I would love to have an idea of its age, purpose and where it originated from.

Hi welcome to the forum

I believe it to be an American made; silver Pyx travelling communion host box. A box holding the wafers which were used by a Catholic priest to administer the last rites and to prepare a dying person's soul for death.
