Medal/locket/pendant help please

I wonder if anyone can help in any way.
Have a silver USA medallion/pendant, has anyone seen the like before, is it military?
It is as though two silver bowl like discs have been put together to form a 'flying saucer' shape. It weighs around 14 grams and there is something soild inside, you can feel it when you shake it!!!
Any help would be appreciated,
