Have turquoise earrings with J Sterling - what country?

Have pierced earrings in turquoise with dog tooth prongs - signed simply J and sterling - what country? what age? thanks

Might not be turquoise but malachite

I think this stone might be malachite instead of turquoise

I agree, more likely malachite, definetly not turquoise. Hopefully someone wiil recognize the maker for you.

These are Native American. Several silversmiths use a "J" maker's mark.

The best resource I have found for NA marks is the Schiffer book "Hallmarks of the Southwest" by Barton Wright. Like with Mexican silver jewelry, there are many fine NA silversmiths who will probably never be identified. This book has many, many marks, but certainly not all.

Because of NA culture, many of the older pieces are not signed at all.
