Help me ID this hallmark from a WW2 pilots wing

Postby John Cooper » Thu May 08, 2008 1:20 am

Hi all I found this forum while trying to ID the specific hallmark on the reverse of a WW2 Sterling wing I have.

I checked the makers listed under F and did a search for what I think the name is but had no luck.
I hope one of you can assist me.

Thanks in advance.

John

Hello and welcome.

That mark was used by the Gustave Fox Company, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Founded in 1869. Don't know how long they were in business.

Hi! I can provide lots of information on the Gustave Fox Company as he was my great-grandfather, and my dad ran the company for years. Starting early in the 1900s, it focus changed from jewelry to emblems and metal decorations for cars and appliances, under the name "Fox Nameplate Company" and then "Fox Company".
