Prunus Pattern Chinese Silver Teaset

Postby Britannia958 » Thu Aug 09, 2007 11:43 am

Can anyone help me identify what appears to be a Chinese export mark? It's a rather attractive Prunus pattern teaset dating from circa 1890.
Many Thanks,

Jules.

An apparently identical set (plus tongs) was sold by Christies London on 29 November 2005 (Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Virtu, Icons and Selected Silver Sale) Lot 451, with the mark of Wang Hing of Hong Kong, circa 1910. Since the mark of Wang Hing is WH, not SM, there must have been some collaboration going on (not unreasonably), but I'm no closer to my set's maker, except that he was probably also in Hong Kong...
