Post by dani »

I got this superb incense burner.It.s hallmarked only silver, could be from China? Some opinions about period?I want to clean it but i don.t want to use abrasive materials or silver dip solutions.Could you give me some ideas?Only if you test it.Thank you very much!

Hi,
Baking soda (Sodium bicarbonate) or even better Sodium carbonate solution in plastic container;place aluminium foil in the solution and silver over it.
Leave overnight.Foil will tarnish, silver will be cleaner but do not expect miracles;wash it with soap and repeat the process.Anyway, filigree looks better with patina. Harmless both for silver and enamel.
Regards
