China Silver

Hello!
I have a piece of jewerly.
It's marked China Silver.
It's silver or silver plated?
Any ideea about the red material in the middle?
Year?

Most of the older Chinese and Indian pieces I have come across that are marked "SILVER" have in fact been high-grade silver. Yours does look like it. I doubt that it is plated, but a simple test would let you know.

The red material is cinnabar. Nowadays some "cinnabar" is molded plastic. If you can see carving marks under a loupe, it's probably the real thing.

Not silver-plated, a silver item exported in 1970s to earlier 1990s. The red thing looks a piece of lacquerware for me.
