Mustard Pot - English?

Postby neurorocker » Mon Aug 05, 2013 6:51 pm

I am having a tough time with the marks on this mustard pot. If these are authentic London marks, they appear to be 1804-1805 [ref. Wyler's The Book of Old Silver. 1937 ed., p. 171]. However, there is no date year which is puzzling. Each mark is individually stamped: King's mark, crowned leopard, W (maker's mark?), and lion passant. If they aren't real marks, what is this? Hanau? The piece is an extremely heavy gauge (220 grams) and appears to have been gilded on the interior.

Can you help with the year/maker? Thank you so much for your thoughts.

Thank you for your helpful (and correct) ID. If read by a moderator, this could be better placed in one of the sections devoted to Asian silver.
