Vintage silver cigar box, help needed to ID.

Postby niceguy1 » Mon Jul 22, 2013 11:21 am

HI ALL

I have this old cigar or trinket box, the top lid has a beautifully detailed scene of a circus?

It does not have much in the way of markings besides sterling silver on the bottom.

Would anybody have any more info when & where this was made? it measures 4 x 4 Inches.

THANKS.

Looks to me like an Indian village scene of threshing grain.

To hazard a guess, it probably dates from the second or third quarter of the twentieth century.

Someone else may be able to pinpoint the region of India (or possibly Pakistan) where it was made and give a better indication of the date.

Regards
DR

Thanks david, I thought it felt a bit older than that but quite possible you are right.
