Help With Identifying Mark on Silver Anklet

I bought this ankle bracelet about 10 years ago and was told that it was silver from India. That is all I have to go on except the engraved markings which I am not sure are a Hallmark or a Makers Mark or both.
Can someone help me to identify the maker of this bracelet, the country of origin, the year it was made, if it is indeed silver or not, as well as explaining to me the difference between a Hallmark and a Maker's Mark in general. Do all silver items have both on them, and specifically, what does this item have on it?

Your bracelet is typically Indian and almost certainly made of silver.

A hallmark is a mark struck on an item after it has been tested at an official assay office. Your item bears no hallmark, only a maker's mark (SCI) and another mark often seen on locally made Indian silver (100T), which would refer to the claimed fineness of the silver.

Hopefully someone may recognize the maker.

Thanks for the help. The anklet tarnished really badly. I had it in a jewelry box and when I took it out, it was practically black. I tried the aluminum foil and baking soda cleaning method. Between that and polishing it, it seems to be pretty shiny again. I am going to purchase some activated charcoal tomorrow and try storing the anklet in that and see if it helps with the tarnishing.
I want to also ask,you or anyone who might know, why does some silver tarnish so badly, while other things I store (like rings and bracelets) do not at all?
Also, do you have a reference website or publication that told you that my anklet was from India, was real silver, and explains the degree of fineness in jewelry?

Hi Shelly,

No, I'm afraid I know of no references on the subject, only wish I could find some information regarding Indian marking. My only, very scant, knowledge regarding such pieces has come from noting them over the years.

Hopefully someone can offer something more concrete.

Regarding the cleaning of your piece, a read through some of the posts in our Silver Care forum will, I'm sure, provide some answers.
