Can you help with these markings Chinese silver tea set

Postby terrysapp » Sun Jan 22, 2012 12:39 pm

I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the hallmarks on the bottom of the Chinese Tea Set I have. I bought it from a lady who said her grandfather brought it back from China in the early 1900's. I am assuming it is silver and hand made. If anybody has any information, That would be great. Thanks, Terry.

The first mark "金" should be the mark of a silversmith.
The mark 85 is the fineness, though it might be higher or lower than 85%.
The 3rd mark should be the reseller or store, it's the most important one, but I couldn't figure it out from you picture. Maybe you can give me a large one?

mmm... Still couldn't read the text on the mark, maybe "新犬"?

The mark is also unknown to me, but it should be a Chinese silver tea set made between c1880~1947.
