Solid Silver Japanese Kyusu (teapot)

Postby Regularjoe » Sat May 16, 2009 2:58 pm

Hello everyone ...
I recently purchased a solid silver Kyusu , and I'm attempting to glean a bit more information about it , should anyone here know any at all .
It is a 2 dragon motif done in repousee (with the exception of heads on spout & lid , which are cast silver & are silver-soldered on), with 2 dragons entertwined around the main body ; 1 dragons' head & neck serving as the spout . It has a solid Ivory handle (aprox. 70mm long) fixed to the side at a 90 degree angle , in respect to the spout .
Weighs about 18oz , and holds 750 ml when filled . Jungin is it's only mark.

A suggested date of manufacture

I've been told that this 'was' or 'may have been' made in 1900 .

Been doing a bunch of research for a couple of months so far , and still have not been able to find a match &/or much info about this piece .

Does anyone here have suggestions about where I might find such information ?

Thank you , in advance , for any help you may offer or suggest .
