Help identify marking on hip flask

Please help identify marking and maker for this hip flask? I would also like to know the country of origin? Flask has the following inscription on the back:
Merry Christmas 1950 Generalwool Osaka Japan

Hi:

The mark looks like it reads "silver". This is common on early-mid 20th century silver from China. You should know that just because it is marked "SILVER" does not guarantee its silver content. You might want to have it tested.
