wine decanter with silver overlay

Postby sharliewho » Wed May 14, 2008 12:31 pm

My father picked up this wine decanter at an estate sale in Williamsburg, Va. I have studied the makers marks on the site, and once again, can't find it. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome.

Could be Chinese export silver, not sure.
Will move your post again if someone has better information.

Pat.

Hi,
It is Chinese, silver encased Pinch whiskey bottles seem to be a fairly common item from the early 20th century, your grapevine pattern is a nice variation.
The mark is one I've not come across before, hopefully someone else has knowledge of it.
Regards, Tom

Thank you so much!!! I really have been trying for months now to identify it. I thought it might be Chinese, but wasn't sure.
