Chinese or Japanese silver decanter

Postby ktiggeloven » Mon Apr 14, 2008 6:21 am

I've bought a Chinese or Japanese (Maybe even Korean) decanter, which I have not been able to decypher the marks from. It is signed with a stork, and the letters K & K, plus some eastern characters. The bottle is also marked with a dutch importmark for foreign silver items with at least a 925-1000 standard. I hope anybody can be of assistence.
kind regards, Kasper

it is japanese - a pair of dragon cups was auctioned off earlier this year - without identification. . . the auction house did not give a manufacturer.

Thanks,
Did the auctioneer give any indication of it's age, or do you happen to know it? which auctionroom is this, if I might ask?
kind regards, Kasper

Kasper -- I ought to have bookmarked it - today it does not appear. The page was of a live auction also carried on eBay, with no date and no further information given.

By now I have found out it was made by the Japanese silversmtih company Kuhn & Komor, who were active in Yokohama around 1900. They were one of the leading companies making Western oriented export silver in Japan.
