Imperial five claw dragon, chinese makers mark?

Postby goargent » Fri Nov 30, 2007 7:30 pm

After hours of work I have not been able to find any substantial information on this remarkable set. There is nothing faintly resembling it online.

Each piece has a different ideogram, but all bear "KYYUN' and the 'swan' french import mark.

There seems to be a laquer/ niello? finish to the sterling, the bristles appear to be an animal bristle and are set in timber.

The design and workmanship is magnificent, lifelike scales surround the sides of the pieces and the dragon is five clawed. The pink glass is hand blown with a highly polished pontil.

I have more images, if required.
Any help with this majestic set would be greatly appreciated.

After more research, each ideogram is the mark for sterling silver, except the the one of have pictured. Could anyone help with the meaning of this mark?
Thanks
