Ladle

Postby amena » Mon Jan 05, 2015 8:29 am

I have a small ladle that bears the marks in use in Austria until 1922 struck in the upper part of two protrusions on the side of the bowl.
Underneath, however, there are the Egyptians marks for the year 1939-1940.

I wonder if there was in that years any regulation that prescribed to submit to the assay also the used articles introduced in Egypt
Any information will be appreciated

Hi Amena,

It's a curious piece. The maker's mark, I believe, is that of Jarosinski & Vaugoin of Vienna, but as I understand it, their 'Chalice' mark did not come into use until 1930.

See: Jarosinski & Vaugoin

It will be interesting to see the answers to this one.

Never seen the combination of these marks. I bought French silver (Tetard et freres) in Cairo with only French marks.
