Persian silver basket marked for Mehdizadeh

Postby Sebastian » Wed Mar 26, 2014 1:31 pm

Could someone help me with the marks on this small swing-handle basket? I have been told that one of the marks is the name Mehdizadeh, which is a common family name in Iran. Does someone know whether this is the name of an Iranian maker or retailer? I have no idea about the other mark, perhaps a town mark?

A further question: can anyone suggest what this small basket is for: is it just decorative or would it have used for a certain purpose?

Hi Sebastian,

I'm sure we'll all appreciate some larger images.

Sorry folks, hope these images are easier to see. I've added another one of the marks.

This bucket is hallmarked by Bagher Parvaresh and probably personalized for or dedicated to Mehdizadeh
