Middle eastern? Silver?

I can't add much, except to say the marks are very much in the style of Algeria.

It's pretty ugly and relatively modern, think I'll do an acid test on it.

The marks are actually upside down, an Arabic speaking friend stated that the mark on what would be the left in the proper position reads pure silver. Was not clear on the other mark but added that there should be a date mark somewhere.

Was just looking at the H.CX hallmark site, do see what your saying about an Algerian connection on the other mark. The examples there appear to be the name of a silversmith inside a double diamond cartouche.
