Persian cup?

Postby Ubaranda » Sun Apr 28, 2013 3:04 pm

Hi all!
Recently I bought very nice cup.

I suppose that it's Persian made but I'm not sure. I know that standard Persian silver fineness was "84".

The first symbol from cup mark is very similar to Persian digit "4", but the second symbol is Latin "F". I'm confused. Maybe anybody help me?

Ubaranda,

In my limited experience I do believe that 84 what your looking at, just a variation on the form. The presentation and motif on the cup appear to be Persian. Do remember that Farsi and Arabic like Hebrew are read right to left. in this case they seem to be following the Russian model of left to right.
