need help with this hallmark, Iraq or Iran 19th century?

This tray is about 15X12 in size. No idea on the hallmark. So I will admit the hallmark is a bit worn but any help would be great.

Is the picture of the mark too hard to see or is it that rare?

Hello gpoetx,

My best guess is that it's the workmanship of the Sabeans of Iraq. They used "meena"" the black ink much in their silver. It's very likely from the silversmiths of Iraq.

Appreciate it, at least it's a start. Been a long time since I got any information on it. I've had this for like 10 years now. now I just need the hallmark identified.

Hada,
do you have any idea what the hallmark is saying, even just a word or two? Or perhaps a Year?

Hello,

I've look at it again and find it hard to read. There is a maker's name. It looks like "Zuhair" The other word is indiscernable. The age of this is hard to determine, however, knowing when the Sabeans did their work, it could go as far back as 70-60 years. Their work included swords, daggers, kohl containers and incense burners. This is a fine piece. Hope this helps.
Regards,
Hada
