I have had this piece for many years along with a small round tray, creamer and spoon that all have this mark and I have searched on and off for the last year trying to find this mark with no luck. Thanks

Dear Peteswife,

A fine Iranian piece, particularly the workmanship of the city of Isfahan. The maker's name written in Farsi is "Ma'ata po" The number (8) appears to indicate silver content (.800).

Thank you so much Hada for this information. It is nice to finally have some history on this piece. Would you by chance have any idea of it's age? It seems to be quite old, but I have no idea. I love it even more now that I know alittle about it.
Best Regards,
Sandy

Hello Sandy.
Please do not start another thread on the same item.
Just add to this thread, it's less confusing to other members of the forum.

Thank you, however I wasn't sure how to do that, but I see if I just reply to my post I can add it that way. Sorry didn't think of that. I don't like to break the rules.

Hello Peteswife,

These are much better pictures. Letters were unclear. Now it says
" Sana'ati Voreesa" The first word means manufacture or make, and the second Voreesa. This is the "name brand" indicating which workshop in Isfahan.

Regards
