Mexican Silver Pitcher Hallmark question

Postby mgmeredith » Sat Aug 18, 2007 9:15 pm

Could someone please help me with the markings on the bottom of this pitcher. I think the mark above is possibly an eagle. It then reads Sterling 925, Hec cho en mexico followed with G MMERJ. I figure from my reading of other posts that it was made in Mexico City. But, I need to know what I have and about how old it is before I get it appraised.

Hello. My book does list a MERJ mark that also had an Eagle 1 mark.
Sorry, book does not identify who used the MERJ mark.

The Eagle 1 mark represents the Federal District of Mexico City.
The style of your eagle mark was used roughly from 1955 to 1980.
